Economy
Benefits, jobs, poverty, business – “the economy” has a huge impact on the quality of our every day lives. One in five young people is now unemployed in the UK and some four million children live in poverty.
What’s the answer? Some people say that it’s the unemployed themselves that need to change their attitude, others say that it’s the economy as a whole that has to adapt – young people can’t be expected to get a job if there’s not one out there, or if they can’t afford to do work experience for free.
In a country that has just had a banking crisis, what do we want to rebuild our economy on, and how should we distribute the money fairly? How much should those people who have a job expect to contribute to those who don’t?
Tell us how things work in your experience or in your area, and what you’d do to make things fairer. With so many young people suffering no one has yet found the answer to make the economy work for everyone – can you?
